Koumbáres |Κουμπάρες
In a Greek Orthodox wedding, the Koumbári are the couple’s spiritual sponsors and anchors; standing beside them in both faith and life. The Koumbári take part in the most sacred moments of the ceremony. Their presence symbolizes lasting support, unity, and love. Rooted in centuries of tradition, this role is one of deep honor and responsibility—a reflection of trust, devotion, shared spiritual commitment, and enduring connection.
It is a profound honor to have Vasiliki Scherer and Alexandra Perea standing beside us as our Koumbári. Having older sisters means you inherit a lifetime of friendship, loyalty, and love. A fierce love that shapes who you are and protects you long before you understand it. Their influence runs through the foundation of our lives — steadying us, shaping us, and reminding us who we are. Without them, Andriana would not be the person she is (or probably still in one piece), and without them, we would not have found each other. Having them beside us as our Koumbári was not automatic, nor was it a gesture to fulfill tradition — it was a conscious, loving, deliberate choice, made because of who they are to us, and everything they have given and everything they are.
Thank you. We love you.
